KATALONIEN, EIN NETZ VON STÄDTEN

Katalonien ist ein Land Städten, die über eine unbestreitbare Vitalität verfügen. Barcelona ist die Hauptstadt und einer der grossen Städte des Mittelmeers, die zusammen mit seinem Einzugsbereich praktisch die Hälfte der Bevölkerung konzentriert. Allerdings konzentrieren sich die Einwohner Kataloniens nicht nur in Barcelona, sondern auch in den Küstengebieten. Zudem gibt es andere bedeutende Städte mit langer historischer Tradition und wichtigen Denkmälern, die in den letzten Jahrzehnten ein beachtliches wirtschaftliches und demographisches Wachstum erlebt haben: Girona, Tarragona, Lleida, Tortosa, Vic, Manresa, Reus, Figueres, Sabadell, Terrassa und Igualada und viele andere.

Catalonia may be small in size, but this country has a long and cherished history that spans more than a thousand years and has its oen culture and language that have defined its character. The origins of Catalonia as a geographical, linguistic and territorial unit date back to the Middle Ages.

Situated in the North East of the Iberian Peninsula, Catalonia has more than seven million inhabitants and has a surface area of 31,980 km2, which makes it comparable in size to Belgium, the Netherlands or Switzerland. Throughout the centuries, the Catalan nation has enjoyed various degrees of sovereignty protected by the political institutions and various forms of government of the different periods of history. Today, the ruling body in Catalonia is the generalitat, Catalonia's self-governing institution that includes the President, the Government and the Parliament-one of the osdest in Europe. These institutions are governed by Statute of Autonomy and share political power with the institutions of the Sapnish State.

Europa un gran país

Desde la diversidad e integración con unos altos valores en defensa de los más necesitados, el socialismo es una herramienta de cohesión y defensa a la que pertenecemos todos. Nuestra Europa no debe limitarse a unos cuantos elementos y su riqueza la conforma la diversidad de su composición, convencido de la posibilidad que nos ofrece este conjunto de pueblos, olvidemos las diferencias de una "Babel" que hoy no debe volver a presidir el desánimo y abandono en la construcción que nos hemos propuesto.

Dentro de estos valores primordiales y sociales, cualquier ciudadano natural o venido y cuyo fin es sumar en el común e integrarse para obtener y dar una calidad de vida digna, es y debe ser considerado europeo. Por esto debe primar el lema de "Europa debe ser quién quiere serlo".

Nuestro presente se refleja en el futuro y el mismo ha de llevar la ilusión para que las generaciones que vienen continuen en pro del engrandecimiento y mejora del mismo.
